Sensei Paul Cooper

Under the instruction of Sensei David Griffin of the Windsor Karate Club, I have practiced several styles of karate including Chito-Ryu, Renshikan and Shito-Ryu. Sensei Maaike Niet

I started my martial arts journey studying Goju-Ryu Karate with Sensei Frank Clayton in B.C. in 1993 and attained the rank of 1st Kyu. I also studied Goju-Ryu for a year with Sensei Nicholson on Vancouver Island in 2001. With a break for raising three kids, I returned to karate and have been a dedicated student of Shito-Ryu, studying with Sensei Dave Griffin and Kyoshi Tanzadeh since 2010. I have been awarded the senior kata athlete for N.S. and am currently a N.S. provincial kata coach and provincially certified official. I am a 4th kyu in Aikido and have studied with Sensei Andrew Haight since 2019. I have been the treasurer of the Windsor Karate Association for the past 6 years.

Sensei Lorraine Lazier

My karate training began in 1983 at Mt. Allison University, where I attained 1st kyu in Shotokan. I provided instruction to beginners at a high school in Kenya for 6 months in 1987/8. I then trained in Goju ryu at McMaster University and Shotokan at Dalhousie University. I took a lengthy hiatus from karate while juggling family and a career as a child and adolescent psychiatrist. However, I kept active through swimming, kickboxing and kayaking until I found WKC and joined the Shitoryu family, attaining nidan in 2022. I aspire to bring my enthusiasm for learning and my appreciation of brain-body-mind connections to classes, as both student and instructor.

Sensei Maddie Hollet

I started taking Karate in 2008 when I was just six years old and became a black belt in 2018. Windsor is my home dojo and I also trained at Hants shore dojo for a few years. I competed at the 2017 and 2018 Canadian nationals. I volunteer at the KNS tournaments, and I have coached my teammates and students for many years. I have earned around 100 competition medals and trophies was for Athlete of the Year and Kata Athlete of the Year. I have worked very hard to earn all my medals, but they don’t mean as much to me as the memories and self discipline that will be with me forever. Since I was little, I have always wanted to be a sensei and pass on the knowledge to others.

Sempei Carter Noakes

I started training in karate when I was five years old at Young’s Uechi-ryu Karate. I trained consistently and earned my purple belt. I excelled in kata and wanted to go further in my training, so Sensei Young sent me to train at the Windsor Karate Club with Sensei Griffin. I have been training in Shito-ryu since September 2019 and achieved 1st kyu in January 2022. As a strong kata athlete, I have placed consistently in the top, at many tournaments.
